Merry Christmas Friday the 13th?

Does anyone besides me think it’s odd that we’re having a Friday 13th in December? I’m not particularly superstitious about the day, but now when I think of this day, I remember the movie. Friday The 13th with Freddy Krueger. No, I didn’t see the entire movie. It’s not my kind of film, and after the first person was killed, I went into the other room and left my husband and son to finish the show without me. In movies, I hate it when characters do stupid things and are killed.

So I couldn’t help myself I googled the date and low and behold Google answered my question all the way back to 2005.  They showed me how often the 13th day of the month falls on a Friday.  In 2009 and 2012 it fell three times, February, March and November. In 2012, it fell three times in  January, April and July. This will be our second time this year for Friday 13th and it will only occur once in 2014. Between the years 2005 and 2015, we will have Friday the 13th 20 times. This information can be found at http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/weekday-friday-13.

Yes, I know I’m a fount of worthless information. But the month of remembering Christ’s birth and the giving of gifts seems like it shouldn’t have a Friday the 13th. But then I had to tell myself that I was being silly. It’s only a day. A day made notorious by a gory movie and silly superstitions.

Then my mind went the other direction, and I started to think about Freddy Krueger kissing under the mistletoe or playing Santa or a snowman.  Maybe he’s just a misunderstood soul who needs some Christmas spirit.

Have I lost my mind? Or has a Christmas ghost taken me over and I won’t return until December 26? Let me know if you think it’s odd we have a Friday the 13th in December and if you’re superstitious.  Me, I’m not superstitious and NO, we are not having a Friday the 13th movie marathon guys. You can forget it.  It’s Miracle on 34th Street night. Get over it I’m not watching that gory movie.

  1. It is strange that we are having a Friday the 13th on here. I am not really superstitious at all. If that was the case I would be in trouble..never fails a black cat runs out in front of me on roads lol.

  2. It is odd if I stop to think about it. I don’t think I am all that superstitious, but I do always remind myself that 13 is considered a lucky number in Italy.

  3. I think it’s a little weird but nothing too creepy. Although it does explain the run of bad luck this week. Guess we will all just have to hug our loved ones a little tighter and be thankful we made it through another Friday the 13th. Maybe that’s why Mother Nature is dumping snow on some of us..we forgot to toss some salt over our shoulders and to leave the black cats alone.

    1. Hi Karla,
I’m so sorry to hear you had a run of bad luck this week. We finally got rid of our ice and now it’s just cold and windy. Thanks for coming by and I’m doing the drawing tonight.

  4. I was sent over by a very good friend of mine, Kimberly Hill *waves to Kimmie* 😀

I haven’t thought of Friday the 13th being weird, but I guess it kind of is weird being in December. I’m with you on the movie Friday 13th & Halloween, but please don’t get me started on Freddie…talk about getting the hebbie jeebies! Oh and what about Jeepers Creepers!? I’ve gotta tell ya…when you said you’re a fount of worthless information, I thought ‘she sounds like me’! LOL 😀

    Thanks for sharing! 🙂

    2. Karen, I love your picture. I have loved Snoopy since I was a kid. I’m so glad that you have good luck on the 13th. That’s the way it should be. Kim will get credit for bringing you here. I’ll be holding the drawing tonight.

  6. I don’t find it too strange (though I don’t really remember one in december). Just coincidence, I suppose. I am not at all superstitious, though. I am sure to someone that it, is could be very unnerving, lol! I’m too distracted by pretty lights to let anything darken my Christmas spirit =)

    Have a Merry Christmas!

P.S. Kimberly Hill sent me to this site! She’s the biggest book junkie that I know!

    1. Hahaha…Andrea! You like it though. Cause I have so many reads to recommend to you because of my addiction! 🙂 And swag for you to hand out to your co-workers 🙂

  7. Sounds strange, just simply that anything seemingly “dark” to creep its way into the wonderful month of December would appear as a bad omen. But i , however am not at all superstitious, and I refuse to let such an ugly”scare holiday” distract me from all of the beautiful lights and holiday cheer. Lol!

    Merry Christmas!

P.S. Kimberly Hill recommended this site! She’s turning me into a book junkie!

    1. Being a book junkie is not a bad thing and Kim does a great job!! Welcome to the fun. Glad you stopped by. I’m going to do the drawing tonight. Today I’m going to a book club tea!

  8. Carri Strunk you won a free copy of The Christmas Bride. Let me know if you prefer a kindle, Nook or a print copy.
