Countdown To Christmas Only 17 Days Left

Last year I asked the readers of my newsletter to send me their favorite Christmas recipe. For the month of December, I’m going to feature the recipes I received. Dean Y. sent me this recipe and she is eligible for a free ebook of her choice.

From Dean: This is a recipe shared with me by a friend many years ago. I bake at least a couple each year. DY

Dutch Apple Pie

  • 5-6 tart apples (I use a combination of green and red apples)
  • 1 unbaked pastry shell (you can either make your own or purchase)
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

The following is for the topping

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour, scant (not heaping)
  • 1/3 cup

Peel apples, thinly sliced and arrange in unbaked pastry shell. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar, mixed with cinnamon. Sift other 1/2 cup sugar with flour. Cut margarine into sugar and flour until very crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.

Bake in hot oven, 450 degrees, about 10 minutes, reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes, or until apples are tender.

  1. I can’t remember Christmases from when I was young so I a going with my son’s Christmas when he was about three. He got this ride on four wheeler and he couldn’t drive it so we set it to go in a circle in the living room. The look on that child face was priceless.
